Travelling Standing Still
Time Machine
Alex Muro
I realized recently that reading a little caption about a song isn't necessarily interesting to most people. I always want to know more about songs that Im listening to especially what the person who wrote the song was thinking about when they wrote it or what they think about it in general. It had never struck me that maybe only song writers are interested in stupid little blurbs like this one, well actually like the other ones on this page, this one has nothing to do with the song at all except to say its in topic, a different kind of song than any one I've ever written before although it started out being one of my lonenly songs (like charlotte or to be so scared parts 1 or 2).

Considerations for Bed Making Pts. I - IV
Tim Koch
This whole batch of songs is different in that we recorded in the library instead of the basement, and uses a lot more of the stuff that pro tools allows you to do when recording music. the noise in the beginning is because the first track on the album will have alex muro singing along to an ice cream truck, which will then go into this song.mp3:

My Dear Friend
Rob Vanderbles & Alex Muro
This is about listening to yourself even when that means hearing more than one person. This is about the consequences of thinking. This is about you, or is it about us?
The picture for this song is a digitally altered version of a painting done by Christina Kincaid.

Dutchesses Daughter
Tim Koch
This song is about one person and everyone at the same time. Its for one person and everyone at the same, and is hopeful and disheartening as the same time as well.

Jeux-Partis (A Dispute)
Tim Koch
This is an angry tim song, and one of the few and far between un-instrumented pieces. its necessary sometimes to strip down all the doo-dadds and just get the point across, and evade the lure of the calling trombone, and trumpet, and accordion, and saw, etc. its about pretentiousness, and how i feel that i am more elitist than i would myself like to be.

Fedora Poly-Dolphin
Doug Schieder & Donna Baird
This song from the most elusive Douglas of Schieder appeared on our hard drive but no one has heard from Doug in months. Strange.

The Berlin Song
Dan Pardee
This song is about photo albums, History, iron curtains, communism, capitalism, Mark 15:21, carrying crosses for martyrs, and turning graves into amusement parks: and is dedicated to the millions of people whom I never met but who haunt my dreams with their salty tears and tireless screams from thousands of years of war and genocide in the name of arbitrary imperatives.mp3:

The Shepardess
Tim Koch
This is a love song to an imaginary shepardess who gets left behind, but a figament of her rides everywhere on his shoulder.

A Lament
Tim Koch & Dave Haeselin
I kept this song to myself until it was basically done and needed dan's instrumentation to complete it. And although its for the troubadour album and in a sense is based on the fictional story which the album will be, its still quite intimidating knowing that you, the listener, may listen to it because it is quite personal and was a shockingly revealing song to write.

Golden Maidens and the Art of Being Lost
Tim Koch
This is a song of debate and making decisions. Its from a new album im working on, being a courtly performance of a wandering troubadour, so its also in the medival style of poetry known as a kyrielle. Its a song of debate in the context of the story he tells throughout the whole performance/album.

Adam, First Son of God
Alex Muro, Tim Koch, Dave Haeselin
This is a song about the biblical story of Adam and Eve. Its a retelling of sorts where roles are reversed but the ending is the same. I think this version is a more accurate description of what happened when Adam and god first met.

The Real Folk Blues Part I
Alex Muro & Dan Pardee
This Song takes its name from the 25th episode of the animated series Cowboy Bebop. It also takes all of its lines (with a little tweaking, but not much) from that and the next episode.( It also takes its sounds more principally from Bob Dylan than any of the songs I have written since the life and times of Sgt Dunbar.) I highly recommend Cowboy Bebop to everyone, but don't just watch the last two episodes, watch the whole thing first. It will be way better.

Charlotte
Alex Muro
This is a song I wrote for a real girl whom I met once at a party when I was a bit younger and just as impressionable as I am now. On first listen this may sound like some sort of creepy love song, which on some level it is but really this is a song about being lonely. The song takes also takes ideas from a story my sister showed me at thanksgiving by leo tolstoy's great niece or some such (tatyana tolstoy) called okkerville river.
(Ps. Please listen to me in headphones at least once.)mp3:

I am the Past
Alex Muro
This song is the precursor to becoming the future. Traveling Standing Still is coming next but its not really close to done. I would call this song a protest song against hopelessness.

A Letter to Separation
Tim Koch
this is a letter from Maralee to Separation, not to or from me. in fact its almost the oposite of everything i think about inter-personal relationships. it started as a poem, then became a letter, and then finally a song.

The Seattle Song
Tim Koch
i originally set out to write a song about an earthquake destroying seattle, but then it turned into a story about a kid moving there, and then it became about me and my dealings with my mom over my possible plans of moving to seattle. i know she wont like it, but i also know she'll want me to do it if it's what i want to do, and that's why she's great.

To Be So Scared Part 3
Dan Pardee, Tim Koch, Alex Muro, Louis Apicello
this might win the award for elduing digital form for the longest time. dan and i wrote the first verse on a grand piano in england in may, and here it is new years day 2006 in albany. to make it quick, its about a girl i fell in love with when i was in denmark. other notes: dan rocks at piano, its really hard to sing, most of the drum parts were just my arms moving uncontrolably, it is not easy to play on guitar using a bus pass instead of a pick.

Pigeon on the Street
Dan Pardee
Believe me, hope really isn't as cruel as this song makes it out to be. Well, I mean it can be, but as long as you don't fall ass backwards into fantasy you won't be disappointed. Anyway that don't matter cause this song is about pigeons.mp3:

Becoming the Future
Alex Muro
This is the third or fourth song from the group of works referred to as While Waiting for the Space age. The I am the Past which in sequence directly preceeds this song is currently evading digital form. This song kind of reminds me of A melody, its kind of the same idea musically and maybe otherwise but Im not really sure.
